~ Character Concept ~
Process and variations for Sarah's design. We weren't sure how old we wanted her to be, so we tried a lot of different styles before we settles on 9-12 years old.
~ 2D Environment Art~
In an effort to make the world look lived-in, we created a bunch of "clutter" pieces that establish that, yes, the world existed before you got here.
(Side note: Coming up with fake band names is hard! Everything has been done already!)
~ UI Design ~
Mockup for the main menu UI. This is very inspired by the quirky, paper journal-style UI of games like Life is Strange 2 and What Remains of Edith Finch.
Two of the pause menu mockups our team liked the most. We decided on the left, the fridge one, because the diegetic UI will help keep the player immersed. Good thing for a narrative game like this!
I actually kept the paper background from the rejected pause menu for the journal background. I also featured elements of the characters in the sketches and wear on the paper material.
